Beijing carries two threads of this story. The White Cloud Temple, Baiyunguan, is the centre of the Longmen branch of Quanzhen and holds Qiu Chuji's tomb — the institutional home of the neigong tradition Mo Pai's methods most resemble.
And in April 1999 some ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners assembled outside the leadership compound in the same city, which is the moment the qigong boom of the previous two decades came to an end.
