Mo 魔

The demon of zou huo ru mo. In the classical alchemical sources the word carries its plain meaning as well as its figurative one: an interfering being, understood to arrive as the practitioner's accumulation grows. Whether a reader takes that literally or as the tradition's language for the mind turning on itself, it is what the texts say, and the warnings attached to it are given as instructions rather than as imagery.
