Gui shen 鬼神

Ghosts and deities, taken together as a category. The received attitude towards them comes from the Analects — 敬鬼神而遠之, "respect ghosts and deities, and keep them at a distance" — which is also the practical instruction repeated in the nei kung literature: do not deal with them, and do not seek them out.
